Here's our story. We bought a working Rowe Ami CD-51 Jukebox from a thrift shop. The shop owner's buddy has an arcade business who fixes them up. They installed a lock on the front that was missing before (to open it up). We are waiting to hear back from that man to ask him a few questions, but I thought I'd try here first. Here they are: 1.) He has a free play code to give us.
Are they all the same, unique? How does that work, we enter it? 2.) The only keys we were given were for the front glass lift that I described above, so how do we empty the cash box to get our ones back? We see two other locks, one on the box and one on the bottom right outside. Which would we use?
3.) Does the '51' imply that it only holds 51 cds? It looks like it hold much more, but perhaps not. 4.) How do we turn the cd holder to replace/add cds? (some slots are empty and most all of the CDs are burned and skip) 5.) A lot of times the song we select won't play, we think b/c the cd is bad, or is missing, so we have a whole lot of work ahead to get this full of working cds.anything we need to know? 6.)Can someone explain the numbering on the wheel that hold the cds? I see it goes to like 97 or 98, but skips numbers-we just need an understanding 7.) I found a Rowe Ami CD-51 1990 manual on ebay, will that work for this jukebox that says on the back sticker it was manufactured in 1992? Thank you soooo much!
I learned that the 1990 Rowe Ami CD-51 Manual will work for our Jukebox, just bought it on Ebay. I assume most of my questions above will be answered with that manual or the guy that worked on it for us. However, Can someone take a look at these pictures? Something doesn't seem right, but we are total rookies.
I still have much confusion on the number of CDs that this thing holds. All images of a CD51 via google show the sheets with the CD artwork and the playlist.
So I see 3 cd's per sheet (one side) This jukebox we bought has two playlists on each sheet.so 6 per sheet. I'm super confused. Here is an image of ours vs google. Can anyone confirm that something is actually wrong?

T hanks Mike. Hello, With regards to your problem with the Rowe Ami 100 cd jukebox. Do you have a manual, if not I suggest you buy a printer manual or one on CD and refer to the Programming and Installation section.
Rowe Ami Jukebox Parts
In order for the jukebox to know about the cd's that are installed in the jukebox it has to initialize all or the changed cd's that have been replaced within the jukebox. Put the jukebox into the Service Mode (the service mode should appear on the display) Type 3 to select the Initialize sub menu Type 0 and full initialize will appear on the display Press Popular to start the initialization Place the jukebox service switch into the normal mode Initiazation will take around 30 minutes to complete. Regards Alan Hood ami-man Jan 05, 2009. There is something called a 'play stimulator'.
It's actually a program setting. When the jukebox is in a pub it is set to play a random record now and then to remind people there is a jukebox. It's programmed that way and can be turned on or off. What you have is a setting for flipping the pages for the same reason. It's not a fault it is actually doing what it has been told. You can time your watch to it. I have no idea how to change it but rest assured it isn't a fault as such.
It's been set up that way. You need a Rowe expert.

Jukeboxes by the Automatic Music Instrument Company (AMI) AMI began in 1909 as the National Automatic Music Co, making automatic player pianos. Having designed a mechanism which allowed music rolls to be selected, this was adapted for use in phonographs, the first of which was produced in 1927. The mechanism used was the first that could play both sides of 10 records, allowing 20 selections. Aside from modifications to extend the number of selections, this mechanism was used for the next 30 years. The company was renamed to the Automatic Musical Instrument Company (AMI) after World War 2. The Automatic Canteen Company bought AMI in 1962, merging it with its subsidiary ROWE AC Services, a manufacturer of coin operated vending machines. Rowe-AMI is still manufacturing jukeboxes today.
